This week the children will learn about the sound /or/,/ore/, and /oar/. They will decode words and read words with /or/,/ore/, and /oar/ in their stories. They will be reading the following stories "A New Idea" and "Thomas Edison Inventor". They will continue to work on reading for fluency, comprehension, and comparing and contrast stories. The children will learn to identity the problem and solution within a story. The children will continue to learn about adjectives and how to use adjectives to compare. Hopefully, they will begin to use adjectives in their writing. The children will continue to work on sight words. They will write several narratives this week.
In math the children will learn about measurement. They will learn about comparing and ordering length, exploring nonstandard units of length. and to measure by the inch and centimeter. They will enjoy measuring a leprechaun by using nonstandard units. The children will continue to work on learning their addition and subtraction number facts.
In social studies they will learn about the holiday Saint Patrick's Day. They will enjoy the holiday with some special snacks. They will practice for the African American Presentation that I have rescheduled (again) for Friday, March 20th at 8:30. Parents are welcome to attend. (Hopefully, we won't have to reschedule again!)
WEEKLY REMINDERS:
- The children will continue to read AR books daily.
- The children should continue to study sight words and addition/subtraction math facts at home.
- Our class African American Presentation has been rescheduled for march 20th at 8:30.
- The children will have celebrate Saint Patrick's Day on Tuesday, March 17th.
