        This will be another busy week as the children prepare for their African American presentation and spring break.
       In reading the children will continue to work for improving comprehension and reading for fluency.  They will be reading and discussing the cause and effect of things within the story.  They will continue to find the main idea and main details within the story.  The children will learn about the sound that /ir/, /er/, and /ur/ stand for.  They will read several stories with these sounds in them.           The children will sort words with the /ir/, /er/, and /ur/.  In language the children will learn about adjectives and alphabetical order.
     The children will continue to work on writing narratives.  They will continue to write details within their writing and use adjectives.  They will continue to use correct punctuation and capitalization within their writing.
       In math the children will continue to work on learning their addition and subtraction facts.  Continue to allow your child to study their math facts at home as much as possible.  The children will learn about fractions.  They will learn how to identify whole, 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4.
       The children will learn about dental health.

CLASSROOM REMINDERS:


  1. Your child should read an AR book daily and be prepared to take an AR test the next day.  However, some of the children are beginning to read chapter books and these books may take a little longer to read.  All children should read at least for 15 minutes a day a home.
  2. Allow your child to continue to study their sight words and their math facts daily at home as much as possible.
  3. Our class presentation on famous African Americans will be Friday, March 6 at 8:30.  Your child should come to school dressed in their costume.  Parents and friends are invited to attend. 
HOMEWORK:
  • Monday:  Write each spelling word three time and begin studying spelling words
  • Tuesday:  Write each spelling word in a complete sentence.
  • Wednesday:  Read a story with word that have /ir/, /er/, and /ur/ in them.
  • Thursday:      Math worksheet
