HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope all my children had a safe and fun break. I am looking forward to getting back to school and meeting some new students. This will be a busy week as we get to know one another. The children will discuss and write their New Year's Resolution".
In reading the students will read the stories "Where Does Food Come From?", "A Look at Breakfast", and "From Cows to You". The children will discuss the sequence of stories and rewrite the stories in sequence. The children will continue to work on decoding and comprehension skills, and reading for fluency. The children will learn about words with -ook, -ood and review long and short vowel sounds. I will continue to give reading assessment to the students. I will be assessing the children on reading for comprehension, decoding skills, sight words, and reading for fluency.
In math the children will continue to work with addition, subtraction, and mixed addition and subtraction. The children will continue to work on solving addition and subtraction word problems. The children will begin to add numbers with two digits. They will continue to go to math centers to review previous learned math skills.
