This will be a busy week. This week the children will review long vowels and learn about the long /i/ vowel spelled /i/ silent e, /ie/, /y/, and /igh/. They will continue to work on decoding words with multi-syllables. The children will read stories with words with long /i/ sound in them. They will continue to work on reading for fluency and understanding. They will read the stories "Creep Low, Fly High" and "Hi! Fly! Guy". They will discuss cause and effect and learn the correct way to us the verbs see and saw. The children will continue to learn about nouns. They will be reviewing plurals of nouns.
In math the children will review previous taught math skills. (addition, subtraction of single digit numbers, addition, subtraction of two digit numbers, counting by 2,s, 5's, and 10's, and making tally makes.
In science the children will continue to learn about the rain cycle. They will be going to the Stem Lab on Friday to do an exciting experiment about the rain cycle.
In social studies the children will learn about famous African Americans.
HOMEWORK:
- Monday: Write each spelling word in a complete sentence
- Tuesday: Write each spelling word three times
- Wednesday: Read word with long /i/ and story with words with long /i/ in it.
- Thursday: Math worksheet REMINDER: Allow your child to review their sight words and math facts as much as possible during the week.
