       This week the children will continue to work on sight words, reading for comprehension, and fluency.  They will learn about the long o sound spelled long /o/ silent e, /ow/, and /oa/.  They will read stories with these sounds in them.  They will identify words with long /o/ in these stories.  The children will read the stories "Go Wild!" and "Vulture View".  The children will identify the main idea and major details in these stories.
      In grammar the children will review nouns and proper nouns.  They will sort nouns and proper nouns.  
       In math they will continue to work on addition and subtraction facts.  They will subtract numbers with two digit numbers.  They will continue to work on addition and subtraction word problems.  The children  will work on counting by 2's and making tallies of numbers. 
    In science the children will begin a unit of study about the rain cycle.  They will learn about evaporation, precipitation, and condensation that takes place during the rain cycle.
      In social studies they will learn more about  Groundhog day.
                                    
HOMEWORK:
  • Monday:       Write Spelling words in a complete sentence
  • Tuesday:       Write each spelling word three times
  • Wednesday:   Read story with words with long /o/ and words with long /o/ to an adult at home
  • Thursday:       Math (Subtraction of two digit numbers)
Students should read AR books during the week, study addition, subtraction facts, and study sight words.
